Reflections on my recent trip to ICDM
By Pastor Don White, Community Wesleyan Church in Intercession City, Florida
On the way there, I found myself asking God, “Why am I here?” and that question became one of my prayers during my time in the mountains of Bayonnais. In the meantime, Kelly and I taught the children based around Samuel and hearing the Word of the Lord, 1) Hearing the Word of the Lord; 2) Hearing the Word of the Lord and Samuel’s Dedication to the Lord; 3) Hearing the Word of the Lord and Holiness; and 4) Hearing the Word of the Lord and Leadership. It is a great thing to think that God might use something that Kelly and / or I might say or do to inspire one of these children to follow after the Lord Jesus with all of their heart, knowing that ‘the eyes of the Lord roam to and fro throughout the whole earth, seeking to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” We all know that God can take one child who believes and mold him or her to impact the world, how much more a room full of such children. These very same children must be encouraged to rise up and take their places of leadership, in Haiti, in the world, for the sake of the kingdom of God. While I was there for the week, that is all that I tried to do.
Everything else about the trip was pretty amazing, there have been several improvements since I was there two years ago: the guest house accommodations were really nice, electric power is available all the time now due to the solar panel / inverter installation; and the food was great for every meal. Yvan’s vision for ICDM in Bayonnais is becoming a reality, one that has the potential to change the nation and the world. I am glad he has invited me to be a part of it.
In the meantime, I was also seeking some answers to prayer myself, and it came Wednesday night and clarified Thursday morning. Suffice it to say that God used my trip, not just to inspire his future leaders, but also to speak to me and clarify His current call and purpose(s) in my own life. I know that if I wouldn’t have come, God would not have had the opportunity to speak into my life the way He did, so now I understand why I was there. It isn’t about me. It’s about Him. Praise the name of the Lord!
