Health Clinic Opens in Bayonnais!

After years of planning, the ICDM Health Clinic in Bayonnais became a reality. The clinic occupies a spacious room in the Center of Hope and is equipped with three examining tables, a sink with running water and cabinets stocked with medicines and supplies. ICDM Director, Yvan Pierre, conducted the grand opening and dedication on August 29, 2013.

Marc Dubois, an experienced public health nurse, will staff the clinic five days a week, monitoring the health of more than six hundred students and staff and treating patients from the community.

 Registered nurses Djiunette Smith and Vonise Antoine were on hand to help during the grand opening.  Both received their training through ICDM sponsorships and now work in hospitals in the Cap-Haitien area.

 Every schoolchild receives a vitamin tablet each morning and a deworming treatment at the beginning of the school year. Each year since the vitamin program began, the children’s height, weight and general health have noticeably improved.

 

 

 Clean drinking water produced by the water purification plant on the ICDM campus adds to the health benefits of children, staff and community.
