Dear friends of ICDM, November marks a season of thanksgiving that continues into the new year. First, we have Thanksgiving itself when we remember the many blessings God has bestowed upon us. Then comes Christmas when we recall God’s greatest gift of all—Jesus, Immanuel, God with us. Because of Him, it is customary for us to share Christmas gifts with our loved ones. Sometimes, it’s tough to know exactly what to get the people on our shopping list. Here at ICDM we have an answer for that dilemma. How about giving a Haitian family a goat or chicken or pig in your loved one’s name? Not only will your gift provide income for the recipients, it will remind them they are not alone, that someone sees their challenges and desires to do something about them. Isn’t that what the birth of Jesus is all about? It reminds us that we are not alone but that we have a God who sees us and cares about us. In a very real sense, when we give an ICDM animal or feed hungry children in Bayonnais, we serve as an extension of Jesus presence, reminding them there is a God who draws near to them.
