ICDM: March Update
0 comments
Dear friends of ICDM,
We recently completed our Annual ICDM Leadership Conference in Santiago, Dominican Republic. We had over 100 attendees from all over Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as well as teams from St. John’s Church, Sarasota, and Lift Church, Venice in the United States.
Before the conference started the teams from St. John’s and Lift participated in medical clinics, VBS presentations, and school feedings. Our US teams entered into the task of spreading the Gospel through good works with great enthusiasm and adaptability.

One of the remarkable things was to see how much God can accomplish in just a short time. This time last year, the vision for a church plant in Santiago’s “Shadow City” was just a glimmer in Pastor Robinson’s eye. Thanks to some help from partners like you that glimmer has burst into reality, with not only a church but a school as well. The pastor of this church plant serving the least and lost of Santiago is a medical student who is committed to healing souls as well as bodies.

Later in the week we shifted to the Conference proper. We cannot overestimate the value of these conferences as they are where Christian workers come to be refreshed and re-ignited for the next chapter of ministry, sometimes in very difficult situations. During the conference we learned about team building, mentoring, prayer, spiritual warfare and were reminded about the centrality of Jesus Christ in all of ministry.

We also heard some amazing testimonies about God at work in various places throughout Haiti and the Dominican Republic. We heard about God multiplying ministry in places like La Romana, Santiago, and Cutupu, Dominican Republic. What humbles me most about these stories is that God does so much through people who seem to have so little. But that is the story of ICDM throughout its history. Many thanks to all of you for being a part of this miraculous journey.
With all the talk about the Conference, I don’t want to overlook the recent Portable Bible School graduation in La Romana. Pastor Don White was our guest preacher at the ceremony. 46 students completed the course and have been released to continue the task of “Making Jesus way more famous” in their communities. Again, thank you for your partnership in making these schools possible.

As I close, let me say something about the situation in Haiti. Many of you have heard about the escape of prisoners and the worsening political situation there. What the news outlets won’t tell you is that light is continuing to shine in the darkness because of Jesus Christ. Our school, medical clinic, church, and economic development programs in Bayonnais are still going strong and our children are safe. But even in the darker places of Haiti like Port au Prince the light of Jesus still shines, largely because of the ICDM graduates who live there. Our Portable Bible Schools and Schools of Evangelism have laid the foundation for Gospel-centered ministry in very hard places. Sometimes, the light of Christ shines the brightest in the darkest places. Thank you for continuing to be part of the miracle!
