ICDM: April 2022 Update

Dear friends of ICDM,

The first quarter at ICDM has been a busy one. In addition to our regular school, church, and community development programs, all of which are flourishing, we have been investing heavily in equipping the next generation for ministry.

During the first full week of January we welcomed over 60 leaders from different parts of Haiti and the Dominican Republic for our Annual Leadership Conference. As in past years the week was filled with fellowship, Bible study, leadership training, and lessons in practical community development. This year’s faculty included Pastor Arsène André, Rev. Rosemond Pierre, Brother Eli Dieuseul and Rev. Yvan Pierre.

Also in January a group of 20 Haitian leaders began a remote training program in video production through ITEC ministries. ITEC was founded by Steve Saint, the missionary featured in the film The End of the Spear. He founded ITEC as a way of providing hi-tech solutions for lo-tech peoples in order to further the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. The ITEC training for us showed us how to use cell phones to produce high quality videos. Mostly we will be using the training to record testimonies and teachings which people can share with their friends. If you want to know more about ITEC you can find them at https://www.itecusa.org/.

Speaking of videos, have you seen our new “Intro to ICDM” video on our web page? Check it out here: https://icdm.us/our-foundation/. This film is a great way to introduce people to the work of ICDM. A longer version with personal comments from Yvan Pierre, our Founder and Director is available by contacting Rev. Jim Govatos at revjimup@gmail.com. This is a great film to show to you men’s group, women’s group, Bible study, or missions’ team. It is just one way to get the word out about an amazing ministry!

As I send these words to you, I am aware that we are approaching Easter when God delivered a decisive word about sin and death through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
With so much bad news in the world, it is refreshing to get some good news and the news about Jesus Christ is the best news of all! Convinced of this, the Gospel is foundational to all that we do at ICDM. Yes, we are invested in helping people build better lives while they are alive on earth, but above all we are committed to sharing the Gospel which promises not just a better life but an amazing eternity.

A recent highlight of our evangelism training was our Great Commission Challenge Camp which took place in Saltadere in late February. Church workers from across Haiti gathered for three intensive days of training in how to share the Gospel. Each classroom session was followed by a practical exercise of actually sharing the Gospel house to house. Many people came to Christ as a result.

We are extremely grateful for the many evangelists God has allowed us to train over the years. We see them making a huge impact for Jesus Christ throughout Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Just after Easter we will be sharing some important news about “Extending the Hope” through ICDM. Be on the lookout for it. In the meantime, I pray that the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ will fill you and enrich your lives during this Easter Season. As always, I remain grateful for your partnership with ICDM.

In Christ’s name,

Yvan Pierre
ICDM Director
And continuing to feed the children…
