Dear partners in ministry,
I want to begin by thanking you for the outpouring of generosity we have experienced over the past few days for the victims of the recent earthquake in southern Haiti.
The toll thus far is staggering: 3000 dead, 300 missing, 13,000 injured, and thousands of homes destroyed. You will be glad to know that because of your generosity, ICDM has been able to send in a relief team to feed and pray with victims, to help with medical care, and to provide some sort of shelter.
In the midst of so much devastation we are glad to report that miracles are still happening. Take, for example, the case of Luckner T., a 17 year old boy. He was working with his uncle when the earthquake struck. Unfortunately, Luckner’s uncle was killed but Luckner was rescued from the same rubble that killed his uncle by two people who appeared and disappeared very mysteriously. Luckner is now being cared for by the ICDM relief team while he recovers from his injuries in hospital.
There are many people in Luckner’s position, and we would like to reach as many as possible. With your help we will continue to feed the hungry, comfort the grieving, bind up the wounds of the hurting, and offer the hope of Christ in a place of despair. It is a privilege to partner with you in this.
One of the great needs we are discovering is for temporary shelter. A great source of shelter which you can help provide are lightweight tents which will provide a sense of normalcy and privacy to the thousands who are without shelter.
