Learn What To Expect On A Mission Trip To ICDM Haiti

Haiti Family Mission Trip Schedule

Listed below is a possible one-week family misson trip to Haiti, the trip can be customized/modified to fit a group’s needs. Also the number of days for your trip and what day of the week you start can be changed to meet your needs. 


 

Day 1 - Saturday:

Arrive by bus after flying into Port-au-prince. your mission team will be met outside baggage claim by our driver and members of our staff.

On your 4 hour bus ride from Port-au-prince to our center of hope complex we will provide water and cold drinks for your enjoyment.  If your bus arrives early enough; and after you unpack we will have a walk around our neighborhood.                                                        

  • Dinner at 5 pm in our dining area
  • Bible study & prayer with the stars on our 4th floor-7pm

Day 2 - Sunday:

We will be attending a Haitian church service in the morning. Please note our services generally last 1.5 to 2 hours. We invite you to intermingle and sit with our parishioners and children.

  • Breakfast - 7 to 8 am
  • Lunch- 12 noon
  • Dinner-5pm
  • Bible study & prayer with the stars on our 4th floor - 7pm (optional)

With today being a day of rest, we invite you to relax and get to know our compound and the children of our neighborhood. Many of our children play games (possible soccer game) after church in our complex, and you are invited to participate if you would like.


Day 3 - Monday:

Full day of activities:                                                                                      

  • Hike - 6 am to 8 am (optional) goat mountain & valley viewpoint
  • Breakfast - 7 to 8 am
  • Lunch- 12 noon
  • Dinner - 5pm
  • Bible study & prayer with the stars on our 4th floor - 7pm (optional)

In the morning after breakfast we will be touring a working farm and get an understanding of the various crops and livestock our community relies on.

After lunch we will be visiting our clinic and visiting with our dentist, some parents of are children, several sponsored children and our teaching staff. 


Day 4 - Tuesday:

Misson work day: on this day we will be working on a project that has been prepared for your group to best utilize your talents. Possible projects include: painting, earth removal, minor construction, food packaging for our neediest and/or food preparation in our kitchen. Those who elect to work in our kitchen helping prepare the meals will receive a small Haitian cook book that lists some of our favorite recipes and recipes for some of the meals you helped prepare during the week.

  • Hike - 6 am to 8 am (optional) to sunrise pavilion
  • Breakfast - 7 to 8 am
  • Lunch - 12 noon
  • Dinner - 5pm
  • Bible study & prayer with the stars on our 4th floor - 7pm (optional)

Day 5 - Wednesday:

Activity day: on this day we have a few options with the possibilities being:

  1. Beach day with some of our children.
  2. Travel to a city and visit a marketplace and a possible visit an old fort.
  3. Strenuous trail hike up into our mountains (this is a 4-6 hour hike and requires you bring a small back pack with water and food), good hiking shoes is a plus!
  4. Historical trip to visit many historical sights in our area.
  • Breakfast - 7 to 8 am
  • Bag lunch-
  • Dinner - 5pm
  • Bible study & prayer with the stars on our 4th floor - 7pm (optional)

Day 6 - Thursday:

School day, we will be spending the morning in our school learning about classes taken, homework and about our students. We will have discussions with a few students who have graduated and became professionals, and how without ICDM they would not have been able to achieve these goals.

Hike - 6 am to 8 am (optional) valley hike to local market

  • Breakfast - 7 to 8 am
  • Lunch - 12 noon
  • Dinner - 5pm
  • Bible study & prayer with the stars on our 4th floor - 7pm (optional)

The afternoon could be a continuation of mission work day projects, a possible craft project, or other activity (tbd).


Day 7 - Friday:

After breakfast we will be taking the mission team on a moderate hike to the Pierre farm. We will visit the livestock on the farm and go over the history of the farm. We may hike to ICDM’s second school for young children.

  • Breakfast - 7 to 8 am
  • Lunch - 12 noon
  • Dinner - 5pm
  • Bible study & prayer with the stars on our 4th floor - 7pm (optional)

After lunch we will visit our boutique and have opportunities to purchase local goods made by our students and local craftsmen of Haiti. One of local artisan’s will be in our boutique making their crafts. This afternoon will be an afternoon for free time and packing and getting ready for the trip back home


Day 8 - Saturday:

Leave early for bus ride to Port-au-prince airport
