EXCITEMENT AT CENTER OF HOPE

ICDM’s CENTER OF HOPE HOSTED A MISSION TEAM OF THIRTY(30) FROM SEPTEMBER 23-26. MEMBERS OF THE MISSION TEAM WERE FROM FLORIDA, TEXAS AND VIRGINIA. YVAN PIERRE AND HIS STAFF GREETED EVERYONE AT THE PORT-AU-PRINCE AIRPORT AND THE MISSION TEAM WAS LOADED ON ICDM’S SCHOOL BUS.  ICDM HAS JUST TAKEN POSSESSION OF A BRAND NEW SCHOOL BUS THAT WILL BE USED TO TRANSPORT FUTURE MISSON TEAMS, ICDM MINISTERS AND OUR SCHOOL CHILDREN FROM THE CENTER OF HOPE.

ON SUNDAY A BEAUTIFUL CHURCH SERVICE WAS HELD ON OUR RECENTLY COMPLETED 2ND FLOOR SCHOOL BUILDING.  SCHOOL CHOIRS PERFORMED AND REVEREND JESSE DELIVERED A POWERFUL MESSAGE ON HOW EVERYONE HAS STRENGTH IN CHRIST AND THE INCLUSIVENESS OF ALL.

DURING THE MISSION TEAM’S STAY, THERE WERE MANY ACTIVITIES WHICH INCLUDED: A HIKE OF THE BEAUTIFUL BAYONNAIS MOUNTAINS TO A VIEWPOINT WHERE THE OCEAN CAN BE SEEN FROM APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES AWAY, AN ENGLISH TO FRENCH CREOLE TRANSLATION CLASS HELD BY TEENAGE MISSION TEAM MEMBERS FOR OLDER SCHOOL CHILDREN, VARNISHING OF NEW WOODEN SANCTUARY DOORS, GRINDING CORN INTO CORN MEAL  AND WALKS THRU THE VALLEY INTERACTING WITH MANY OF THE FAMILIES.  THE MAIN ACTIVITY EVERYONE ENJOYED WAS THE TIME SPENT WITH THE SCHOOL CHILDREN AND THEIR INFECTIOUS SMILES! MARIE CLAUDE PREPARED MANY WONDERFUL MEALS FOR THE MISSION TEAM. MANY LOCALLY GROWN VEGETABLES AND FRUITS WERE USED.  DURING A MEAL IT WAS REMARKED THAT PEOPLE IN THE BAYONNAIS MOUNTAINS  HAVE BEEN  EATING ORGANICALLY FOR YEARS.

MANY IMPORTANT MEETINGS WERE HELD DURING THIS TIME, WHICH INCLUDED ISSUES OF FOOD INSECURITY IN HAITI, THE SPONSORSHIP OF SCHOOL CHILDREN, THE UPCOMING LAUNCH OF A NEW HOSPITAL CLINIC AND THE CONTINUED EVANGELISM OF THE HAITIAN PEOPLE.  GOD TRULY BLESSED THIS MISSION TEAM AND THEIR TRAVEL. WE PRAY THE CONTINUED WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THRU EVERYONE WHO VISITED OUR CENTER OF HOPE, SPENT TIME WITH OUR CHILDREN AND SEEN ALL THE WORK THAT HAS TO BE DONE.
